FAIRqual Workshop 2026: Data Repositories und Mehr

On August 31st, 2026, the FAIRqual team ran a data governance workshop. The workshop was held in German, and so are all materials: the workshop deck, the input slides, and the handout.

The full workshop deck by the FAIRqual team frames the day: the project’s motivation, qualitative data in transdisciplinary projects, the shift from applying the FAIR principles towards implementing data governance, the reflection exercise on your own data, and the zine action plan that closes the workshop.

In the “Data Repositories und Mehr” input, Lars Schöbitz walked through where qualitative data can live after a project ends: what a repository gives you over a lab-server folder, the three kinds of repository, how open to make the data, the automatic-versus-manual access choice, licences versus data-use agreements, and how to give access without handing over the data. A one-page take-away accompanies the talk for the group session that follows.

STS NL 2026: FAIR Data Practices for Qualitative Research in Transdisciplinarity

On April 16th, 2026, the FAIRqual team presented at the STS NL 2026 conference at the University of Twente, NL, in the track ‘How to Make Science Better’. The track provided plenty of food for thought on current trends in the ‘science industry’, such as publishing schemes, handling misconduct, and institutionalising movements such as Open Science. In our presentation, we discussed how raising awareness of data governance and FAIR data practices in qualitative, transdisciplinary research could contribute to making science better. The accepted abstract is published as a blog post.
