An example repository: EnviDat

• Run by WSL, the federal institute for forest, snow, and landscape research. Its subjects read like a park’s data inventory: biodiversity, forest management, landscape planning, natural hazards
• Browsable right now: about 766 datasets at envidat.ch (August 2026); search a region and see real Swiss environmental datasets
• What a repository gives you, in action: DOIs, open access, Creative Commons licences, and metadata that stay visible even where the data are restricted
• The honest caveat: depositing runs through WSL affiliation or registration, so the route for parks is their research partners. Your own qualitative and social data goes to SwissUBase
• Finding more: re3data.org lists over 3,000 research repositories, filterable by country and subject (EnviDat: r3d100012587)

The pairing for this audience: EnviDat is where the environmental monitoring data around a park lives, SwissUBase is where the workshop participants’ own qualitative and social data goes. Together they cover both halves of what a Reallabor produces. For species observations, GBIF is the tangible extra example, since park sightings ultimately flow there. re3data turns the post-it question “which places suit which data?” into something participants can answer themselves after the workshop.
